The phrase "Roulette" is French and in essence it means "small wheel". While it may seem that since "Roulette" is a French word that the game itself comes from France, but this isn’t automatically accurate. There are a number of different hypotheses varying from the game being developed in China, along with ancient Rome. Several who believe the roulette originated in China, think that Monks that were dealing with the Chinese helped bring the game back to Europe. The Roman theory is based on records that Romans would tip their chariots and spin them as a type of amusement.

A somewhat more popular concept is that the French scientist Blaise Pascal, credited with the probability theory, developed the roulette wheel. Apparently, it was the by-product of one of his a lot of experiments.

A legend about Francois Blanc, is that he seemingly sold his soul to Lucifer so that you can obtain the secret of roulette. Conspiracy-theorists validate this tale by the reality that all the numbers on a roulette wheel have a sum of "666".

Although the Blanc brothers’ game was a unquestionable success, gambling was still illegal in France so it was presented in Hamburg instead. Betting was eventually banned in Germany too, even so, but then The Prince of Monaco asked Louis to run his Monte Carlo casino and reintroduce the individuals with the game of roulette.

When brought over to The us, the single Zero version of roulette was abandoned in favour of the "00" edition of roulette. Today, so as to distinguish between these 2 variants, the Double Zero edition is referred to as the American Wheel whilst the "0" model the European Wheel. The Double Zero version has 38 numbers whilst the Single Zero version only has 37 but, regardless of their dissimilarities, both are incredibly popular throughout the globe…
